In honor of Racial Justice Action Week here at CREC we are highlighting a 3rd grade student who received a supreme surprise!
In February, third grade students wrote letters to important People of Color who helped advance the rights of marginalized communities.
One of the students in Mr. Barbuto's class got an exciting surprise yesterday – a letter back from Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor!
Justice Sotomayor is the first Hispanic to serve on the Supreme Court, and the third woman appointed. In her letter, Justice Sotomajor said how proud she was of her and told her to keep speaking up for what's right!
